However, back on earth, the abandoned machines have been left to populate the globe.  They live in the world seen in Cars, and where excess radiation from all of the environmental waste has caused changes in the technology and their mindset, giving them new and anthropomorphic abilities.  The automobiles have the capabilities of talking, thinking, and most miraculous, controlling themselves.  Without any humans present on Earth, everybody is happy and free, and exploring their new talents and world without people.  They do though, work to sustain the social structures and economy the humans left behind, along with many other traits a strong society needs.  But the machines are clearly prospering by themselves.
