PIXAR EASTER EGGS

We all know that the Disney-Pixar animators never rest when creating a new box-office film, so I have put together a list of ‘Easter Eggs’ that are hidden throughout all the movies.  An ‘Easter Egg’ is a phrase used to describe when one Pixar movie has a reference to another movie, or when an object or term appears in every film.  ‘Easter Eggs’ are hard to find, and often well hidden, so make sure to pay close attention!

  • Pixar’s elite animation studios are filled with the best of the best.  Most being alumni of the California Institute of the Arts, they make sure to hide ‘A113’ in every one of their Pixar films.  A113 was the classroom number that the graphic design and character animation students got to study in when attending class there, so it holds as an inside joke for the graduates on the digital animation team.

  • The renowned actor John Ratzenberger has played a role in every Pixar film; Pixar animators consider him their “good luck charm” for releasing a new movie.  Often times his voice is recognizable, but for others, you will have to listen closely.

  • The term “luxo” is thrown around in almost all of the Pixar movies.  As a reference to the lamp that bounces on the ‘I’ in the production opening and the first short film Pixar ever released, the phrase materializes in to the yellow ball with a blue stripe and red star, first seen in the short.  Almost every movie has the ball somewhere in the film, and a few even use “luxo” as a brand or title.

  • The ‘Pizza Planet truck’, which plays a large part in Toy Story, can actually be found in every Pixar film.  With its yellow paint job and signature white and red rocket topper, it is always hiding somewhere in the film.
