Then Boo comes into the story.  During Monsters, Inc. she leaves her room through the door right after Sulley, and enters the world of the monsters.  Being only 4 or 5 years old though, Boo sets off to explore the factory and accidentally gets herself into all kinds of trouble.  But after her adventure in the future, Boo has to say goodbye to her new friend Sulley, and be brought back home.  Yet she never forgot her Kitty, and becomes obsessed with finding out what actually happened that day.

As she was so little when it all occurred though, Boo only remembers parts of the story.  But she does recall the monsters using doors to travel in and out of the plant, stepping into different worlds with each different door.  So Boo eventually figures out how to time travel through the doors herself, (using advanced technology and innovative resources) and goes back in time to find ‘the Will-o’-the-Wisps’ after learning about their magic and power.   She later learns that wood is the key to making more doors, and eventually finding Sulley.

Now in the movie Brave, Scotland is known for its dense forests, and it is the first film to showcase ‘the Will-o’-the-Wisps’.  Magic is clearly present throughout the film as well, considering also the role of the witch.  In fact, during more than one scene of the film, the witch walks out of her carver’s shop, snaps her fingers, and walks back in, only this time it is a magic cottage full of potions and cauldrons.  The viewer obviously thinks that the shop has transformed, but actually, Merida and the witch are just walking into a different version of the cottage.  They are leaping to a different point in time, and just entering a newer/older form of the shack when stepping through the door.  The witch and (unknowingly) Merida are time traveling.

See, the witch knows about ‘the Will-o’-the-Wisps’ power, and  the  benefits  of  wood,  and uses them both  to  create

Boo is the little fir seen in Monsters, Inc. that befriends Sulley and Mike

EVIDENCE #2

The witch from Brave is the hobbled enchantress that gives Merida the cake after posing as a word carver

doors alike to that in Monsters, Inc.  She gained this specific knowledge by piecing it together herself after having to say goodbye to a futuristic friend she called Kitty, but never forgot.  In other words, the witch from Brave is an aged version of the lovable character Boo.

Proof even surfaces during the movie Brave: When Merida is gazing around the wood carver’s shop, and her eyes momentarily land on both a slab of wood with a careful carving of Sulley on it, and a block carving of the ‘Pizza Planet Truck’.  Thus proving that the witch has not only been to the future and seen a modern day delivery van, but has seen Sulley and wants to preserve her memory of him.
So Boo sets off across the Disney-Pixar universe in search of her Kitty, often landing in different eras to collect important tools that she can use to help her on the expedition.  But Boo is not quite able to control when she lands during her travels every time exactly, so she leaves behind careful signs to let herself know that she has already been there, if she is to accidentally return.  Signs that are later classified as ‘Pixar Easter Eggs’.
